Frequently asked questions

Most sleep masks just block light, and potentially slip off when you turn and put pressure around the eyes, and do nothing for the 7,000 breaths you take every night. Sleepmaxxer is designed as a sleep + sleep-breathing solution that's versatile across all positions of sleep and snooze, whether you're at home, in flight, on a plane.

Unique features no other sleep mask combines:

  • Integrated nasal dilator that promotes nasal breathing and smooth airflow discreetly
  • Built-in chin strap that inhibits open-mouth breathing and supports the jaw
  • Anti-bacterial cooling fabric, fully machine washable
  • No-pressure contoured eye cups for side, stomach and back sleepers
  • No velcro, just simple metallic adjusters and a single side clip
  • Premium materials designed for nightly use, travel-ready and compact

A detailed list of pain points with existing sleep masks that we tried to address through Sleepmaxxer is on the Sleepmaxxer product page.

A well-designed sleep mask is not bad for your eyes. The risk with poorly designed masks is pressure on the eyeballs and eyelashes, which can cause discomfort or contribute to dry eye over time. Sleepmaxxer was designed specifically to avoid this with no-pressure contoured eye cups that leave space around the eyes themselves, and a non-irritating anti-bacterial fabric on the skin-contact surfaces. The eye cups also accommodate eyelash extensions.

In terms of style: Sleepmaxxer not only looks premium, but also helps you look better by preventing open-mouth drooling, and discreetly tucking the nasal dilator within the sleep mask itself.

We hence consider Sleepmaxxer to be a significant feature innovation as well as design and styling innovation hitting the market. Very soon. 🙂

Yes. The no-pressure contoured eye cups and compressible material were specifically designed to be comfortable in any sleep position. Side sleepers especially benefit from the absence of velcro (no hair tangling) and the single side clip that stays clear of your pillow. Stomach sleepers get the same no-pressure eye treatment. The chin strap and nasal dilator stay in place across all positions, including when you shift through the night.

Yes. Sleepmaxxer is fully machine washable. The fabric is anti-bacterial, designed for nightly use, and built to stay fresh, clean and hygienic when tossed in the wash regularly. Just detach/remove your nasal dilator from the mask to avoid losing it during the wash. No special care required.

Sleepmaxxer is a wellness sleep mask with integrated nasal dilator and chin strap, not a clinical device. It isn't a silver bullet for solving conditions like sleep apnea or chronic insomnia. As a sleep + breathing integrated sleep mask, it's designed to improve sleep quality and sleep-breathing through two mechanisms: inhibiting open-mouth breathing via the chin strap, and supporting nasal airflow via the integrated nasal dilator. To the extent that these help most people sleep and breathe better, including those with sleep conditions, Sleepmaxxer can certainly help.

As a new venture, we do not presently have the resources to pursue rigorous scientific studies on Sleepmaxxer's impact on people with diagnosed sleep conditions. Anecdotally speaking, our user cohorts with sleep conditions have slept better and felt better while using Sleepmaxxer.

We do not hence make any quantified medical claims at this point of time. We'd just suggest that you try Sleepmaxxer as one of several tools in your hands to address your condition, and see for yourself if it works for you. And please give us your feedback! 🙂

Sleepmaxxer is designed to coexist with CPAP straps without slippage. Our adjustable head strap, single side clip, and lightweight metallic adjusters position around (not under) most standard CPAP harnesses. We are not a CPAP replacement and don't make any clinical claims about treating sleep apnea. If you use a CPAP and want a sleep mask that stays put alongside it, Sleepmaxxer is built to play nicely.

Mouth tape seals your lips shut which carries risks, as per several sleep experts. It is observed to even trigger a panic response in some people. We hence chose a different solution to inhibit open-mouth breathing: the chin strap built into the Sleepmaxxer anti-snoring sleep mask.

Our fully adjustable chin strap allows your mouth to open freely if it needs to, while gently stopping the jaw from dropping open passively during sleep. It supports your jaw from underneath, like a hammock, not a clamp. This keeps your mouth closed so you breathe through your nose. No adhesive, no tape, fully adjustable. You forget it's there within a few nights.

The chin strap also inhibits the embarrassing drool. Our favourite advantage over the mouth tape is that it also allows for intimacy! 🙂

We recommend using Sleepmaxxer nightly for three weeks to get fully used to it, before you take a position on how much it is helping you. If you've slept and breathed better through the night, your body will show it in how you feel. My favourite experiential gauge is how well I am able to do my stretches and splits in the morning. Sound sleep makes me so much more flexible the next morning.

If you are inclined to biohacking or measuring sleep with devices, you can check HRV, deep sleep and similar metrics on your Oura, Whoop, Apple Watch or other sleep tracker to assess whether this breathing sleep mask is helping you. The proof of the pudding can sometimes be in the sleeping! 🙂

Two forms of evidence we lean on, pre-launch:

Anecdotal user data. People we know tracked 90 days on an Oura Ring before and after switching to Sleepmaxxer. HRV went from 52 to 68, deep sleep from 18% to 23%, dry mouth dropped from 4-5 times a week to almost zero. n=1, placebo possible, all the caveats. But the pattern was consistent enough to build this breathing sleep mask around it.

Expert review. A few board-certified sleep specialists and neurologists are in process of reviewing Sleepmaxxer before launch. Early verdict: solid wellness product for snoring prevention and nasal breathing optimization. Not a clinical device. That's exactly how we position it.

Launching on Kickstarter in July 2026. Our Design Lead, Vikrant is currently at factories in China verifying every material and fit detail in person. We won't launch until we're certain we can deliver the exact product we designed: integrated nasal dilator, chin strap, anti-bacterial cooling fabric, fully machine washable. Early bird backers ship first.

You're in the first group. You'll hear from us before anyone else when the Kickstarter goes live, and your reservation locks in your priority and pricing. Behind-the-scenes updates are going out in our WhatsApp community. If you're not there yet, check this out.
